CNY NOW

The National Organization for Women is an action focused, grassroots, intersectional organization that advances women and girls to bring them into full participation in American society. We act on reproductive rights, economic justice, ending violence against women, racial justice, rights for LGBTQIA+ people and securing constitutional equality.

The Central New York Chapter of NOW is one of the longest existing chapters in the country, and the second organized in New York following a chapter being formed in New York City.

CNY-NOW serves Madison, Onondaga, Cayuga, Cortland, Oswego and Tompkins Counties, but welcomes individuals from surrounding counties without Chapters. Membership is open to anyone who shares our vision of full equality for women and girls.

About Us

NOW condemns the racism that inflicts a double burden of race and sex discrimination on women of color.  We are committed to identifying and fighting against those barriers to equality and justice that are imposed by racism.

Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.— The Equal Right Amendment

NOW is launching the “Unlock the Future” campaign with a series of rallies and issuing a Bill of Rights for women and girls in detention prisons that will be delivered to top-level government officials.
